The new NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 (DBPAct) is now in force after its introduction on 11 June 2020.
Expected to change the landscape of building construction in NSW, this new legislation is a great step forward in consumer protection for apartment owners.
We are fortunate that two industry power houses, Grace Lawyers and Strata Community Australia (NSW), advocated on behalf of the industry for a statutory duty of care against those involved in building construction. That goes for all buildings.
The vision is to give strata owners rights under a duty of care in the construction of their building.
